NICOSIA TOURISM BOARD – DEPUTY MINISTER OF TOURISM MEETING. In the focus the promotion of Nicosia’s tourism perspective

The Tourism Society held its first official meeting of Development and Promotion (NTB) of the Nicosia Region with the new Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Kostas Koumis, in the hall of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Nicosia.

The Mayors of Aglantzia and Strovolou, the Director of EBE Nicosia, Presidents of Community Councils of Nicosia District, the President of the Guides Association as well as its members ETAP of Nicosia participated in the extended meeting.

At the center of the meeting were raised issues related to its promotion tourism perspective of the city but also of the Nicosia province, as well and defining priorities and axes of action.

The President of NTB, Mr. Theodoros Krigou, referred to the challenges that Nicosia face as a tourist destination, while expressing the belief that these can be overcome by implementing a comprehensive plan.

NTB is already implementing projects which aim to promote the tourism development of Nicosia. Projects include, among others, the modernization of the tourism product of Nicosia through festivals and events, the use of digital tools such as the development of the Visit Nicosia application as well as the card visitor benefits “Nicosia Tourist Card” which are in orbit implementation.

For his part, the new Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Kostas Koumis, did special reference to the importance of the interconnection of Nicosia with other regions of Cyprus, adding at the same time that the tourist upgrade of Nicosia it is a difficult and demanding task. However, he assured that the Deputy Ministry will work on the comparative advantages of Nicosia, while proposing the development of special forms of tourism that will give impetus to tourism development of the capital.

The meeting was preceded by a tour of the Deputy Minister of Tourism and executives of the Deputy Ministry with Nicosia Tourism board as well as its tourism operators city, in the historical center of Nicosia.
