Nicosia, 3 October 2025 – The Powerhouse (Pallia Elektriki)
The Nicosia Tourism Board recently hosted an inspiring event at The Powerhouse (Pallia Elektriki) to present INDUSTOUR – Visiting Industrial Companies and Sites as a Growing Lever to Diversify Tourism Policies, a European initiative dedicated to advancing industrial tourism across the continent.
Bringing together six partners from France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Denmark, and Cyprus, INDUSTOUR seeks to turn Europe’s factories, workshops, and production sites into vibrant destinations for visitors eager to experience authentic craftsmanship, innovation, and industrial heritage.
The project’s partner network includes:
- Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France)
- Moravian-Silesian Region (Czech Republic)
- Łódzkie Region (Poland)
- European Affairs and Development Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbia), with the Secretariat for Economy and Tourism of Vojvodina as an associated partner
- Nicosia Tourism Board (Cyprus), with the Municipality of Nicosia as an associated partner
- Municipality of Tønder (Denmark)
The event brought together a diverse group of local stakeholders, including representatives from the Municipality of Nicosia, the Cyprus Motorcycle Museum, the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI), the University of Nicosia, the Cyprus Handicraft Service, the Cyprus Tourist Guides Association, the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce, the Municipality of Agia Varvara, and the Leventis Municipal Museum.
During the presentation, the NTB team introduced the project’s main objectives, operational framework, and four-year plan. A lively discussion followed, focusing on how INDUSTOUR can contribute to shaping Nicosia’s industrial tourism strategy — by identifying key heritage sites, strengthening public–private collaboration, and showcasing local craftsmanship and manufacturing traditions as valuable tourism assets.
The meeting set the stage for a shared path toward sustainable growth, highlighting Nicosia’s creative and industrial identity while positioning the city as a leading example of industrial tourism in the Mediterranean region.
As the project moves forward, the Nicosia Tourism Board will continue working closely with its European partners to implement new initiatives that foster cultural discovery, innovation, and economic opportunities for Nicosia and its wider metropolitan area.
