The Nicosia Tourism Board (NTB) participated in the second technical meeting of the SPORTS4ALL – Sports Tourism for All project, held on 22–23 October 2026 in Strovolos, Cyprus. The meeting was hosted by the Municipality of Strovolos as part of the Interreg VI-A Greece–Cyprus 2021–2027 Cooperation Programme.
Bringing together project partners from Cyprus and Greece, the two-day meeting provided an opportunity to review progress, discuss ongoing activities and coordinate the next stages of implementation. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and advancing the project’s shared objective of making sports and tourism more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.

Reviewing Progress and Coordinating Next Steps
During the meeting, representatives from all four partner organisations presented updates on their respective activities, including the implementation of planned actions, project deliverables and upcoming priorities. Representing the Nicosia Tourism Board, Sotiris Christoforou, Secretary of the Board of Directors, presented the organisation’s progress and outlined its contribution to the project’s implementation. NTB’s involvement focuses on the development of a joint cross-border strategy for accessible sports tourism, the promotion of Cyprus as an inclusive sports tourism destination, and the development of innovative digital experiences. These planned activities include virtual reality (VR) applications and digital representations of cultural and natural landmarks, designed to offer new opportunities for people with disabilities to experience destinations that may otherwise present physical accessibility challenges. The meeting also provided an opportunity for partners to coordinate their next steps, strengthen communication and discuss the implementation of upcoming project activities.

Exploring Sports Infrastructure in Strovolos
As part of the programme, participants visited the “Glafkos Clerides” Municipal Sports Centre in Strovolos, where they were introduced to the facilities and the potential for further developing accessible sports infrastructure. The visit highlighted the importance of investing in inclusive sports facilities and creating environments that encourage participation, accessibility and equal opportunities.

Supporting Accessible Tourism Through Cross-Border Cooperation
Through the improvement of sports infrastructure, the introduction of accessible equipment, the development of digital tools and joint tourism promotion activities, SPORTS4ALL seeks to expand opportunities for participation in sports and tourism for people with disabilities and young people.
For the Nicosia Tourism Board, participation in SPORTS4ALL forms part of its broader commitment to promoting Nicosia as a welcoming, accessible and sustainable destination. By working alongside partners in Cyprus and Greece, NTB aims to support tourism development that places accessibility, innovation and social inclusion at its core.
The second technical meeting marked another step in the project’s implementation, reinforcing the partners’ shared commitment to a future in which sports and tourism can be enjoyed by everyone, without barriers.
