The first MEDSSIM pilot trainings of the GREENSET project<\/a> have now been successfully completed in Cyprus, marking an important step in the project\u2019s mission to support the green and circular transformation of tourism services across the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, GREENSET focuses on equipping tourism SMEs and Business Support Organisations (BSOs) with practical tools, methodologies, and collaborative approaches that help businesses become more sustainable, resilient, and competitive. At the heart of the project is MEDSSIM : the MED Sustainable Service Innovation Methodology , a structured framework designed to help SMEs rethink and improve their services through sustainability, innovation, and circular economy principles. Over the past weeks, local SMEs from the tourism and hospitality sector participated in a series of interactive pilot sessions that explored topics such as sustainable service innovation, customer experience, operational resilience, and GREENSET MEDSSIM Pilot Trainings Successfully Completed in Cyprus<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first MEDSSIM pilot trainings of the GREENSET project<\/a> have now been successfully completed in Cyprus, marking an important step in the project\u2019s mission to support the green and circular transformation of tourism services across the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, GREENSET focuses on equipping tourism SMEs and Business Support Organisations (BSOs) with practical tools, methodologies, and collaborative approaches that help businesses become more sustainable, resilient, and competitive. Over the past weeks, local SMEs from the tourism and hospitality sector participated in a series of interactive pilot sessions exploring sustainable service innovation, customer experience, operational resilience, and practical sustainability strategies adapted to the realities of small businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the training content itself, one of the most meaningful outcomes of the pilot phase was the strong engagement and reflection demonstrated by participating SMEs throughout the process. For many participants, the MEDSSIM methodology provided an opportunity to step back from daily operational pressures and look at their businesses from a more strategic and structured perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants highlighted that the methodology helped them organize ideas, clarify operational challenges, and identify priorities in a more concrete and step-by-step manner. Several SMEs also noted that the process supported them in transforming everyday experiences into actionable improvements, clearer service concepts, and more realistic sustainability goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This feedback strongly reinforces one of the key ambitions of the GREENSET project: creating methodologies that are not only innovative in theory, but genuinely practical, accessible, and useful for SMEs operating in demanding tourism environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special and heartfelt thank you goes to our first-round participating SMEs \u2014 Valtou Rigani, Hermann Cosmetics, and Nonna Rossa \u2014 for their hard work, focus, openness, and active contribution throughout the pilot process. Their commitment, honest feedback, and willingness to engage deeply with the methodology played a vital role in the success of this first phase and in shaping the continued development of MEDSSIM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cyprus pilot activities also highlighted the importance of collaboration between SMEs, local stakeholders, and project partners in building more resilient and sustainable tourism ecosystems across the Mediterranean region. The insights gathered during this first phase will directly contribute to refining the methodology and strengthening future pilot activities in partner countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the project moves forward, the GREENSET consortium now looks ahead to the next phase of pilot activities, collaborations, and cross-border knowledge exchange that will continue supporting a more sustainable, innovative, and resilient future for Mediterranean tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
