The Nicosia Tourism Board participated in the 2nd Consortium meeting for the Hothreat Project, held in Barcelona, Spain, on February 6th and 7th, 2024.
The meeting, a pivotal milestone in the HOTHREAT project’s journey, commenced with an in-depth examination of its work packages, meticulously scrutinizing each component to ensure alignment with overarching goals and timelines. Following this, partners presented progress reports and deliverables, providing valuable insights into achievements made and challenges encountered. Engaging discussions ensued, with participants actively exchanging ideas and sharing best practices to optimize project efficiency.
Moreover, the workshops conducted during the meeting were instrumental in addressing identified gaps in project implementation. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions, stakeholders delved into the root causes of these gaps and devised tailored strategies to overcome them. Leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise, participants generated innovative recommendations aimed at bolstering project effectiveness and maximizing impact.
Furthermore, the workshops served as a platform for capacity building and knowledge exchange, empowering partners with practical tools and methodologies to enhance their contributions. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, the meeting facilitated the cultivation of a robust project ecosystem, characterized by adaptability and resilience in the face of evolving challenges.
The HOTHREAT project recognizes the longstanding vulnerability of hotels, cultural, leisure, and entertainment facilities to terrorist attacks, with the threat level constantly increasing. While security measures for conventional threats are well-established, the emergence of CBRNe threats presents a new challenge that demands elevated preparedness and response strategies.
In response, our project aims to create prevention, response, and consequence management mechanisms tailored for hotels and conference centers. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, our team of experienced specialists will transmit professional knowledge of dealing with CBRNe risks, enabling these establishments to mitigate and respond effectively to such threats.
By fostering innovative approaches and focused interventions, the HOTHREAT project represents a novel concept of prevention against CBRNE threats. Our main objective is to increase the safety of EU MS society by enhancing the preparedness of hotels and conference centers to handle CBRNe incidents, thus contributing to a safer and more resilient environment for all.
