HOTHREAT Project: Raising Awareness on Safety in Hospitality

On April 10th, the ΕΤΑΠ Λευκωσίας proudly hosted a dissemination event for the HOTHREAT – Tailored CBRNe Protection Measures for Hotels and Conference Centers project, in close collaboration with the Center for Social Innovation (CSI).

This important EU-funded initiative aims to enhance the hospitality sector’s resilience against CBRNe threats (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive), making our tourism infrastructure safer and more prepared for emerging challenges.

🛎️ The event gathered representatives from local hotels, tourism stakeholders, and civil protection authorities, sparking valuable discussions about safety, resilience, and the pressing training needs for frontline staff working in busy tourist destinations.

We were honored by the presence of the ΥΦΥΠΟΥΡΓΕΙΟ ΤΟΥΡΙΣΜΟΥ, whose warm welcome speech set the tone for a productive day. Special thanks also go to the Cyprus Police and the Cyprus Fire Service for their insightful presentations and steadfast support in building emergency preparedness within the sector.

We would also like to extend heartfelt appreciation to our partners from the University of ŁódźThe Biohazard Prevention Centre (Centrum Zapobiegania Zagrożeniom Biologicznym) — and Sigoria Security Solutions Ltd, whose expertise and collaboration are instrumental to the success of HOTHREAT.

🎯 Through HOTHREAT, we are proud to: ✔️ Develop specialized training materials and emergency response protocols
✔️ Facilitate cross-border cooperation in emergency preparedness
✔️ Raise safety awareness within the hospitality and tourism industries

This event marks another step towards building a safer, more resilient tourism ecosystem — starting right here in the heart of ΕΤΑΠ Λευκωσίας.

We look forward to continuing this critical work together with our partners, stakeholders, and the broader community.
