On September 29, the Nicosia Tourism Board (ETAP) joined forces with the authentic Neapolitan pizzeria Nonna Rosa (Evagorou 1AB, Nicosia) with a shared goal: to celebrate and promote the unique gastronomic identity of Nicosia and Cyprus through one of the world’s most loved dishes – pizza.
The collaboration began with a tasting of Nonna Rosa’s classic pizzas, prepared by Marco, the Italian pizzaiolo from Rome. From there, the two teams embarked on a creative challenge: to design a pizza dedicated to Nicosia. After experimenting with flavors, replacing traditional Italian ingredients like mozzarella and salami with authentic Cypriot products, a new recipe was born.
The result? The Autentica Nicosia – a pizza with bold character and authentic taste, encapsulating the very essence of Cypriot gastronomy and the spirit of the capital.
More than just a pizza
The Autentica Nicosia is more than a new menu item. It is a symbol of how collaboration between institutions and local businesses can strengthen the city’s identity, promote SMEs, and enhance the visitor experience.
For the ΕΤΑΠ Λευκωσίας, initiatives like this are part of a wider strategy: to position Nicosia not only as a cultural and historic hub, but also as a destination for authentic culinary experiences that connect people to the local way of life.
Taste it yourself
The Autentica Nicosia will be available exclusively at Nonna Rosa from October 31st and it will remain on the menu until the end of the year.
